Interference Field
Colors show where waves add and cancel.
Interactive 2D field where color encodes the total wave amplitude from two sources.
Controls
Move sources & detector
- Drag the two glowing dots (sources) directly on the field.
- Drag the ring-shaped marker to move the detector/observer.
- Or use keyboard: 1/2 to select a source, then arrows to move.
What you're seeing
Each pixel acts like a small detector. For every pixel we compute the distance
r from each source and evaluate the wave
S = A · sin( k·r − ω·t ). The total signal is
Stotal = S1 + S2.
- Bright bands → strong constructive interference
- Dark lines → destructive interference
- Detector ring shows the local value of S at its position
Tip: drag the sources close together, then as you drag them farther apart try to recognize the pattern.
